Ramsgate Café Society brings beautiful music to Ramsgate. This year their flagship presentation is 'Summer Serenade' in July, featuring Simply Opera led by renowned tenor Martin Rendle, whom many will remember from last year's 'Oh Vienna'. Contact the Chairwoman Jean Cook on 01843 853375 if you would like to join. Members get prior notice of events and receive the Café Society Newsletter.  During July and August The Ramsgate Society's Costumed Walks were nominated for a Pride of Thanet' Award 2009. There are four walks around different parts of the town held throughout July and August, each led by knowledgeable local guides who introduce Ramsgate characters from the past - famous or not so famous. Wheelchairs, children-accompanied-by-an-adult and well-behaved-dogs are all welcome (no dogs on the Harbour walk) and they set out regardless of the weather. No need to book unless you are a large group, in which case please telephone the organisers and arrangements will be made. There is no set charge for these walks as we are all volunteers but donations to help meet the cost of the walks are welcome. All those taking part in the walks do so at their own risk. No specific Liability Insurance is held. Large parties will need to pre book on 01843 580832 for any of the main walks. We regret that no walks other than those detailed can be offered. Saturday 4th July Ramsgate Café Society presents Summer Serenade. A recital of ballads and arias from popular operas and operettas, sung by Simply Opera. Clarendon House School's Arts Centre, Cavendish Street, Ramsgate, 3.30pm, £8 including light refreshments, book tickets with Chairwoman Jean Cook on 01843 853375 and you can pay on the door. Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July Ramsgate Rocks, Harbour Party Weekend Live stage, funfair, street entertainment, craft and trade stands, fireworks. Tuesday 7th July The Ramsgate Society's Costumed Walk. The Royal Harbour Walk. Meet outside the Maritime Museum at 7pm for up to 90 minutes stroll, meeting some of Ramsgate's characters from the past. Free but donations are welcome, this walk stops for tea at the Sailors Church on Military Road. Details from 01843 580832. Sunday 12th July Summer Fayre, FORL (Friends of Ramsgate Library). Vale Square Gardens, 11am - 3pm Tuesday 14th July The Ramsgate Society's Costumed Walk. The Town Centre Walk. Meet outside the Halifax in the town centre at 7pm for a guided walk of about an hour round the town meeting some of Ramsgate's historic characters, ending at St George's Church for tea. Free but donations welcome. Details from 01843 580832. Tuesday 21th July The Ramsgate's Society's Costumed Walk. The Westcliff Walk. Meet outside the Look Out Café, beside the Westcliff Lift, at 7pm for a guided walk of 60 to 90 minutes, meeting some of Ramsgate's colourful characters from the past. Details from 01843 580832. Friday 31st July - Sunday 2nd August Viking Extravaganza With our Twinned town Fredericksund in Denmark we will provide three days of excitement from Viking Times!
