Alfred Luck (1808 - 1864) Biography Alfred Luck was the founder of St Augustine's Monastery, Ramsgate. He was a friend of the architect Augustus Pugin, who designed and built St Augustine's Abbey Church and gave it to the Catholic Church. Together they owned the lugger 'Caroline', in which they helped to rescue sailors shipwrecked off Ramsgate.
